BIS Overview
Business Information Systems (BIS) is a four-year degree programme that specialises
in key business and technology skills, providing students with an excellent springboard
for a successful career within IS or business related sectors. BIS students study
an interesting mix of business subjects such as Economics, Accounting, Management
and Marketing. IT related subjects are also on offer covering topics like programming,
web development, networking, systems analysis and database development. In third
year, BIS students have the opportunity to work in industry for six months. The
BIS
allows students to take what they have learnt in lectures and practical sessions
and apply it in an organisation. This paid placement means that BIS students have
practical business experience before they complete their degree. BIS students also
enjoy their four years at UCC as members of the BIS Society. Soccer tournaments,
formal balls and weekends away are widely anticipated annual events! See more detail
