MSc Management Information Systems (MIS) by Research |

Overview
The Degree of MSc by Research offers you an opportunity to pursue research
on a specialist topic of your choice. As part of the programme, you may opt to engage
in the development of an innovative software solution for a particular business
or industry sector.
Programme Structure
The degree is offered full time over one year and longer (at least two years) as
a part-time option. Outstanding candidates may also have the option of transferring
to the Department¡¯s PhD programme.
As a Masters by Research student, you will participate in a series of seminars and
produce a thesis.
Seminars
Seminars are presented on research methods and current issues.
Research Methods
in MIS:
This series of seminars considers the use of research methods within the
Information Systems discipline including selecting an appropriate research method
and qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
Current Research
Issues in MIS:
This series of seminars considers current theory and research topics
in the MIS field.
Thesis
The thesis represents an in-depth study of your chosen
area of study. It is typically between 40,000 to 60,000 words, and is formally supervised
by staff within BIS.
